How do we explain the behavior of nation states? What types of forces contribute to the processes we observe in the international system? This course (3.0 credits) is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the theoretical and analytical developments in the field of international relations. Although current events are at the heart of the course, the goal of the course is not to become aware of current events. It is to be able to explain them; to be able to think critically and creatively about the processes of international politics that apply not only to current events but that are likely to apply to events in the future.
